East Coast Hike - Requirements

How demanding is the trip? How much experience is required and how physically fit do you need to be to participate?

All participants should be able to walk long distances with a heavy backpack in difficult terrain.

You should be used to or not be surprised about spending all nights in an expedition tent while outside temperatures range between -10°C and +6°C. The weather conditions on Svalbard can change quick.

Two participants will share one tent (size: 3-person-tent), there will be enough space to store all of your gear. During our hike the equipment will be distributed fairly between those two participants (tent, stove, cooking equipment). The expected backpack weight will be between 20 and 30kg.

The group will get a transport to the end of the road and leave civilization for two weeks moving autarchic (don’t know what this word is) to the East Coast and back.

The distance of the tour is about 170 km.
