Spitzbergen Ski-Expedition - Description

Many people have been dreaming about being or becoming a great discoverer in their childhood. Are you one of them? Have you been dreaming about walking on ski pulling an expedition slege through unknown terrain, sliding on white silent snow, not knowing where to sleep in the evening - to explore an area far away from civilisation.

This dream may come true!

During two unbelievable weeks on ski pulling a pulka (expedition sledge) you will travel the 200 km from Borebay until Magdalenefjord.

You will walk solely on the white, amazing glaciers of northwestern Spitsbergen, pass the Three Crones, not far from Ny Ålesund, and cross the high alpine looking landscape between the icecap of Isachsenfonna and Gullyglacier.

The nights you‘ll spend in cozy expedition tents and sleep in complete silence like you‘ve never ever experienced before.

The Magdalenefjord is one of the most beautiful and famous fjords of Spitzbergen, the main island of the archipelago Svalbard. After being on ski for 12 days you will have one day in Magdalenefjord surrounded by gourgeous pointed mountains, facing the glacierfront of Waggonwayglacier.

Here the group will be picked up by ship and experience the harsh north western coastline of Spitzbergen during a 2-day cruise on  the way back to Longyearbyen.

Application deadline: no dates for 2010.    Read more >>
