Ski-Expedition - Requirements

How demanding is the trip? How much experience is required and how physically fit do you need to be to participate?

All participants should be able to walk on ski long distances with a heavy expedition sledge.

You should be used to sleeping in a tent or, at least not be surprised about spending all nights in an expedition tent when temperatures outside range between -10°C and +3°C.

The weather conditions on Svalbard can change quick.

Two participants will share one tent (size: 3-person-tent) so there will be enough space to store all of your gear. During our hike the equipment will be distributed fairly between those two participants (tent, stove, cooking equipment).

The expected weight of our expedition sledges will be between 30 and 50kg.
Don‘t be afraid, even 50 kg slides well on snow.

The group will get a transport across the Isfjord to Boreglacier and leave civilization for two weeks moving autarchic ???, experiencing the white glacier world of Svalbard. The pick up will be done by cruise boat (i.e. MS Nordstjernen or another one)

The distance of the tour is about 200 km.
